Week of September 14th: Classes and Events at Craftfolk

While we continue to look for a new permanent location for Craftfolk (see note below), we are offering a few workshops this fall at partner locations. These workshops include:

*9/29 Community Fire Cider Making at Siren Song Fleece Works at Lucchesi Vineyards;
*10/28 Handmade Paper and Paper Lanterns with Laurel Mathe at a private studio in Colfax;
*11/1 Holiday Rubber Block Printing & Tea Towels with Jill McCann at Siren Song Fleece Works at Lucchesi Vineyards (registration will open soon, save the date).

There is still plenty of space and we hope you will consider joining us for these special offerings.

Craft Club Update:

It's been so enjoyable watching the seasons change each week at the farmer's market as we move towards fall and cooler weather. This week we watched the bustle of preparations for Railroad Days, including the entry of some very special Southern Pacific Trains to the adjacent tracks.

We will continue our weekly Craft Club at the Colfax Farmer's Market until October 1st, then will take a break through the end of October. My hope is to find a permanent home for Craftfolk by November so we can move indoors for our weekly free offerings and paid workshops. Stay tuned and please hit reply with any ideas and connections you have for spaces.

Since the Farmer's Market is pursuing live music programming (yay for live music in Colfax!), we will discontinue our weekly Bluegrass & Old-Time Jam at the market. Stay tuned in upcoming newsletters for updates as we search for a new location. Thank you to everyone who joined us this summer. It was so fun making music with you all on Main Street!

Wishing you a creative week and hope to see you soon,
Gretchen

Craftfolk Update:

We're on the look-out for a space for Craftfolk where we can host workshops starting in November. We're looking for a mostly turn-key space with a kitchen, bathroom, large unfurnished room to hold workshops and events, and easy parking. We're open to sharing space with another business or having our own dedicated space. Ideally we'd like to start with a month-to-month lease, but are open to a longer commitment depending on the space. We'd like to stay in or near Colfax to keep the momentum going here. Please hit reply to this email if you know of a space we should consider. Stay tuned via these weekly emails for general updates and announcements once we have our workshops back up and running. Email us at hello@craftfolkcollective.com if you have an idea for a space.

I've been busy behind the scenes getting things lined up to open our new Craftfolk studio in downtown Colfax! The next month will involve painting, moving, and setting up the new space for us all to enjoy. We're going to be located on Church Street between the Library and Post Office and I'm looking forward to more visibility at this corner location. We'll be restarting the weekly Craft Club and Bluegrass & Oldtime Jam in the new space on November 19th. We hope you will join us for these free...

October is always a busy year for me, as it's fiber festival season! Before starting Craftfolk, I ran a hand-dyed yarn company with my friend Christy (called Quill & Quiver Fiber) and we vended at some of the big fiber shows on the east coast every fall. I'm used to spending this time of year in Vermont, Massachusetts, and New York, and this past weekend I had the opportunity to visit the Lambtown Festival in Dixon, CA for the first time. I was helping my friend Meredith at her booth for...

Sweater weather is officially here, and three of our knitters showed up to Craft Club last week with sweater projects on their needles. Above is Becky's beautiful Dala Horse Sweater, photographed with some fitting seasonal produce. Join us for our last Craft Club of the season at the Colfax Farmer's Market this Thursday, October 1st (4-6pm). We'll be taking a short break for the rest of October and resuming in November (psst! be sure to check out the exciting update below on our new space!)...
